PATTAYA WIN THE TITLE OF WORLD’S MOST LIVEABLE CITY 2016.

Pattaya is without doubt a great place to visit and in many ways a great place to live in, but according to one survey Pattaya is the winner of the 2016 title of world’s most liveable city.

Pattaya started out as comfort stop for Dutch sailors and since then it has gone on to become known for its sex industry with 4 million tourists visiting the city annually and many indulging in visits to Go Go bars, massage parlours and the likes of.

But Pattaya has made great progress in cleaning up its act, to the point where its once notoriously sleazy reputation has made way for a focus on more wholesome, family-orientated activities.

One of the 20 judges said “10 years ago, Pattaya wouldn’t have made our top 100 list of liveable cities. However, there have been many improvements since we first started coming here.”

The judges visited a short-list of the top ten cities around the world, and the
same judge said, “All the other cities we visited had several positives, but we felt Pattaya was number one.” Other Asian capitals they visited were Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.

This controversial result is no doubt good for Pattaya’s reputation as a leading tourist destination in the region but when you take into account that all 20 members of the panel were European men aged over 60 then you have to ask what brought them to this happy ending… sorry conclusion.

Especially when you consider the well respected and legitimate findings of the Global consulting firm Mercer’s 18th Quality of Living survey, released this week in London, that put the Manila’ at 136th place; Note, Manila came in the top 10 of the survey above, as did Singapore which ranked 26th whilst Pattaya didn’t even make it into the 230 cities in Mercer’s survey.

Vienna maintained its top ranking in overall quality of living, with Zurich, in Switzerland coming second, New Zealand ranked third followed by Munich, Germany and Vancouver, Canada.
